How he got interviews?
[edit]Not explained how he joined the band.
FA in need of review
[edit]This older FA on a living person is in need of a tune-up to comply with the current FA criteria. Issues spotted:
- Verifiability
- There's no source for Frusciante's birth day;
- Warpaint is listed as an associated act in the infobox, but never mentioned in the text (or sourced). Same for Venetian Snares;
- Wu-Tang Clan is both listed in the infobox and mentioned in the text, but not sourced anywhere. Same for Black Knights;
- "2010–2019: Shift to electronic music" is in need of additional references.
- the Bicycle Thief are mentioned in the lead, never in the body, and not sourced. Same for Dewa Budjana and a few others in that sentence (
He has also worked with acts including the Mars Volta, Duran Duran, Wu-Tang Clan, Swahili Blonde, Black Knights, the Bicycle Thief, Glenn Hughes, Ziggy Marley, Johnny Cash, George Clinton, Johnny Marr, and Dewa Budjana.
) I know that Frusciante worked with lots of artists in his career but either it was significant and has reliable sources that comment upon it or does not have RS that comment upon it and thus it should not be mentioned. - There are a few genres mentioned in the lead, others in the infobox. They do not match. Also, just as example, I do not see any mention of ambient music in the body of the article or a source that confirms that Frusciante is an ambient musician;
- prince.org is a forum.
- Layout
- Since the career section is presented in a chronological order, the "Collaborations with Omar Rodríguez-López" section is out of place and should be integrated somewhere before;
- Prose
- * The "2019–present: Return to the Red Hot Chili Peppers" section has a bit of a rambling on about Frusciante's return to the band that reads as a bit trivial and should be presented in a more objective way.
Article needs tune-up. RetiredDuke (talk) 19:33, 26 November 2020 (UTC)
- I share RetiredDuke's concerns. Many of the sources are not high-quality sources required in FAs. The 2010-2019 needs a trim, copyedit, and additional sources. Lots of information mentioned by RD above are still not referenced or verified. This is liable to be listed at WP:FAR unless someone is willing to address the above concerns. - +1. The article isn't great. Popcornfud (talk) 00:33, 4 October 2021 (UTC)
- @Popcornfud: are you interested in nominating this article to FAR? Editors are only allowed to nominate 5 articles at a time there, and I am at my limit. I am happy to help with the process or answer any questions. Z1720 (talk) 02:00, 7 October 2021 (UTC)
- @Z1720: Sorry, I don't have the energy to get into FA stuff right now, but if you set this up later I'll add my vote. Popcornfud (talk) 16:19, 7 October 2021 (UTC)
- Just looking at this now. I suppose I could grab some book sources and get it back to a decent state without too much effort, but I've concluded that taking BLPs to GA, let alone FA, isn't worth it, because you'll either spend half your wiki-career fixing good faith edits that don't meet the criteria, or get fed up and watch it be delisted in a year or two. As Frusciante is still releasing music at a prolific rate, covering a wide variety of styles, it would be a major effort just to keep the article in shape. Asexual?
[edit]Why is Frusciante included in the category:asexual men? He has never publicly identified as asexual (ace) and I was under the impression that was a pre requisite for such identifications in BLPs. As well as that, the sources of these rumours (eg. https://sports.yahoo.com/25-celebrities-asexual-proud-081602373.html) seem to come from this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMwFwGMlgGA, where he discusses having experienced sexual attraction, which most asexual people don't experience. - I'm pretty sure he got married relatively recently too lol Susrage (talk) 03:32, 23 June 2024 (UTC)
- Actually it's right in the article not even pretty sure anymore Susrage (talk) 03:35, 23 June 2024 (UTC)
- I don't see in the mobile version anything related to John being asexual.
- He is currently married to LA DJ Marcia Pinna (aka Aura T09), they married on 2022 and have been on a relationship for a few years.
- He was married to Nicole Turley from 2011 to 2015.
- His relationship with artist Toni Oswald lasted about 6 years, before the recording of BSSM (she can be seen on the Funky Monks documentary) to the time he was very deep into addiction, yet they reminded friends. In his book Scar Tissue, Kiedis mentions that they had to break the "no girlfriends rule" while touring so John could brought Toni.
- It's usually misinterpreted by people because John said to someone interviewing him, on camera, after he quit RHCP for the first time, that he wasn't interested in sex anymore, in response to a question regarding how easy was for him to get girls or something.
- His relationship with actress and model Milla Jovovich is well documented, as well the one with Stella Schanbel, John openly speaks about the art of "By the Way" being made by Julian Schnabel, the father of his then girlfriend.
- Also, his relationship with musician Emily Kokal, from Warpaint, it's well known, he even produced one of Warpaint records.
- There are many interviews from trusted sources about all this, none of those relationships were "secret", they all were known.
- If there's not a Personal Life section anymore, I don't know why is that, probably because he's a private person, but all of the above mentioned relationships were never hidden during their time and either John or their partner openly talked about it without giving more details.
- Currently Marcia Pinna announced their 2 year wedding anniversary.
- So no, John has never claimed to be "asexual", it was most likely that quote from a guy asking him questions in LA taken out of context and there's nothing wrong with a person choosing celibacy during a period of time, that was he was saying. 186.34.109.70 (talk) 00:29, 1 July 2024 (UTC)

Recording Lead And Rhythm guitar parts during the RHCP Albums

Death of River Phoenix
[edit]On 23 May 2024, an anonymous user edited the "1992–1997: Addiction and first solo albums" section stating that Phoenix's overdose was brought on by "a cocktail Frusciante gave him". While there have been rumours that Frusciante gave Phoenix drugs shortly before he died, no additional source has been provided for this edit and the autopsy does not identify who provided drugs to Phoenix and lists the death as accidental. Based on this, I am going to revert this change. If you want to add this or similar material back in please discuss it here first and/or add a link to a specific source for this.
